Thanksgiving Plays

Here are some pictures of the plays that our class presented.  They performed three different plays about turkies, and a poem titled Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving.  They worked really hard to be able to present to other classes in the building, and then they had a special performance for their parents.  I am so proud of the kids for all their hard work!  I would also like to thank all the parents that took the time to come in and watch the kids perform.

Fun Student Links!

I have listed some links to great literacy websites.  They all offer fun reading and writing games and books for literacy learning.  We use these sites in the classroom, so have your child share their knowledge!

Parent Guide to Literacy Links

The literacy links section on the left hand side of the blog is available to help you encourage your child's learning at home.  There are several different links that you can go to for printable activities or books to support literacy.  Reading A-Z has many leveled books and parent resources available. With Reading A-Z, you do have to pay a subscription fee. Starfall has phonics based reading games that are fun and engaging for children. Scholastic Family Playground again has games that are based in phonics and printable activities to do with your child. Reading Rockets is one of my favorite resources for parents.  It offers a variety of reading strategies and tips on choosing "just right" books.

Welcome Back!

Well the first nine weeks has quickly come to an end.  We spent a lot of time working on building community within our classroom, and learning classroom procedures.  Throughout the year I will be posting activities, pictures, and information from our classroom.  There are links posted already to some great resources for you and your child.  I'm looking forward to a great year!
